Hand tap also called bolt tap, is used to cut internal threads in a hole, allowing for the insertion of a screw or bolt. Hand taps are essential in manual thread cutting operations and are often used in workshops for threading holes in various materials, including metal, wood, and plastic.

Types of Hand Taps:

1.Taper Tap:

Has a gentle taper over the first 8 to 10 threads.
Easier to start in a hole and typically used to begin the threading process.

2.Second (Plug) Tap:

Used after a taper tap to continue the threading deeper into the hole.
